MARY JANE STYLING INSPO

This is a top secret, but I never used to be much of a Mary Jane lover myself - I loved them on other people, but could never imagine them fitting into my wardrobe. This was kinda silly of me, as it’s a well-known fact that a good old Mary Jane can fit into pretty much any kind of style - and I’m gonna show you how.

Mary Janes are a Koi classic, and we have an ever-growing selection of these vegan shoes in many different colours. We’ve got patent Mary Janes, block coloured Mary Janes, suede Mary Janes…don’t even get me started on the patterned Mary Janes - they are gonna blow your mind.

Despite us serving you modern Mary Jane realness, we didn’t invent them. This style of shoe was originally worn by children in the late 19th and 20th century - and more boys than girls wore them. Fun fact: adults only started to wear them when Twiggy was styled in a pair by designer Mary Quant in the 60s. I was today years old when I found this out.

Fast forward a few decades, and Koi has now got Mary Janes with frogs and bears on the front. We love a classic with a modern twist <3.

COTTAGECORE FANTASY

@nadiiife wears our Tira Witchy Mary Janes 'Della Black Velvet Edition’ with a white flowy gypsy skirt and matching white lace up cropped blouse. She looks amazing & shows that black shoes don’t always need to be worn with black outfits! Her outfit is also all thrifted, and her top is self-made. We love an ethical queen.

Mary Janes look so good paired with flowy outfits, why not try them out with a long skirt or dress this summer?

E-GIRL VIBES

@vintage_venom_ wears our Tira Mary Janes 'White Jawbreaker Patent Edition - which were actually designed by herself in the Lex Dakota drop. She looks amazing and pairs these white Mary Janes with black knee high socks and a white grunge distressed sweater for a classic monochrome look.

A grungey distressed outfit works so well with these shoes because of the chain details - why not try a grunge-inspired ‘fit with your Mary Janes?

COMFY COWGIRL

@shaherasam wears our Sai Cow Print Mary Janes 'Nettie Edition' and pairs them with a matching cow print tote bag - how iconic? Clothing-wise she wears this amazing blouse smock dress with an oversized collar and matching light blue sunglasses. STUNNING.

If you’re lucky enough to find an accessory that matches your Mary Janes as well as this, it’s such a good way to add more excitement to your outfit - you are the main character!

KAWAII GIRL

@mylilbunnii looks SO cute in our Sai Pink Kitty Mary Janes ‘Salem Sphynx Edition’. This outfit is giving us life! She wears the cat Mary Janes with knee high black and pink socks, a black tennis skirt and a super unique pink top. She accessorises with black arm warmers to top it all off!

Going all-out with colour coordination is such a cute way to style your Mary Janes! Why not try it?

TUMBLR VIBES

@bisolou wears our Sai Mary Janes 'Silver Maple Edition' in the cutest way. She pairs the Mary Janes with white ankle socks, a denim midi skirt and a mesh tank top from Minga London. We are obsessed with this subtle colour palette and it’s such a cool outfit!

Pairing a pair of Mary Janes with a matching coloured top and denim bottoms is a simple but effective way to style them!

WHIMSICAL GLAM

@brooke.smootie looks truly amazing in our Sai Black Mary Janes 'Faux Leather Edition’, which she pairs with black butterfly tights and a ruffle mini dress. A regal charm from this ‘fit comes in when adds white gloves and the pedal necklace - it’s giving Blair Waldorf crossed with Jenny Humphrey.

Why not wear some black Mary Janes to an important event and dress them up with gloves and pearls? We never would have thought of this before!

PINK KAWAII PRINCESS

@lady_purrington is the absolute queen of pink. She invented this colour. She pairs our Tira Mary Janes 'Wild Purple Edition' with Simone Rocha mesh floral socks, a bag from independent brand Frangibella and this pink dress and bonnet combo that we simply cannot describe with words.

Why not go for an all-pink look? Or if you’re not into pink, match your ‘fit to another one of our block coloured Mary Janes.

We hope this inspired some of your future outfit choices! If you don’t have any Mary Janes to style, don’t worry! We’ve got a huge range of Mary Janes - as well as black Mary Janes and printed Mary Janes, so go check ‘em out <3
